Things I love right NOW

It has been a while since a Friday round-up of "Things I love right NOW" so here you go folks...enjoy!

If you want to see a cute impression of a duck, Anne's blog is the place to go. Oh, Lil, how I adore you...

Most of the world has a crush on the president's wife, Lady O. After checking out this picture I'm pretty sure you will too. It's making me have serious flash backs to high school dances.

If I was the tattooing type, I might think about getting something cool like this, maybe with Sister? Hmm...

Ever had someone say to you, "Wow, I just never pictured you guys as being such close friends" ? I have. To them, I say, "PSHA! Check THIS out."

Ok, so, I have a penchant for shows involving medicine. Probably has something to do with those years I spent working in the back of an ambulance, but watching Private Practice I fell in love with the song Devil's Thunder by Rachel Cantu. Listen to it on her myspace page. Trust me.

And last, I have joined Twitter! I'm not sure that I love it yet, but hopefully I'll get swept up in the excitement soon.

Things I love right NOW

OK so it has been a while since I did a round-up of random things that I am enjoying at the moment but with the temperature hovering at 0 degrees it felt like a good day for a fun pick-me-up. Enjoy!

Even if you aren't a huge animal lover you have to appreciate this picture from the wonderful blog, View from the Tundra (Minneapolis).

One of my favorite rituals is checking out the weekly updates on Sunday at a cool project website called Post Secret. Co-worker Abbie introduced me and I am pretty much addicted. People write in their secrets on postcards and I thought that this one was really profound. If you are looking for a cool holiday gift they have compiled books, too, and sell them on Amazon. I know I would be ok if Santa brought me one!

ZipHolder is here to save the day!
After visiting Sister over Thanksgiving I found out that she has a serious issue with a zipper on one of her pairs of jeans: it won't stay up. No matter what she does, the sucker slips down repeatedly throughout the day. Well never fear, Sister (and the rest of you who have this pesky problem),
Now nifty is that? (Image from www.zipholder.com)

A lovely lady I work with sent me this link. Click the box in the corner for an explanation and directions but lets just say that if you are ever stressed and need to space out for a bit, that is the website to check out.

What is one of the best parts of opening presents that come in the mail? BUBBLE WRAP! Well now you can buy a calendar that is made completely out of the fun, popping material. How cool is that?

Alright, last random gift idea: Shticks! Ever wish you could say something to the car next to you or the person at the other end of the subway? These nifty sayings on a stick are the way to go.
The Alpha Man website has tons of cool random things that would be great gifts for those people on your list who already have anything they want and claim they don't need anything more. (Image from www.alpha-man.com)

Last (but DEFINITELY not least) is a cool little story about Lilly's grandpa. He recently started using a wheelchair and thought up the brilliant idea of adding a snow plow to the front of it for clearing his driveway! Check out the video. I think I might invite him over to my house the next time it snows :)

A little round-up

...of "Things I love right NOW."

Handbag.com Amnesty Project This is an initiative by Handbag.com and Cancer Research UK to raise money during October (breast cancer awareness month) to beat cancer. Check out the site, wear pink, support the cause however you can.

Politics seem to be on the minds and lips of many right now which I think is wonderful, however, I grew up in a family where it was impolite to ask people about their political opinions. I still have a hard time articulating my views to others, even though they are very clear in my own head. So, here are a few cool political videos that give absolutely no hint as to which candidate will be getting my vote this fall!

This adorable post about heading off to school for the first time made me smile and say, "Awww...!"

A few songs have been stuck in my head all week so I put them together for you to have a little listen here.

And last but DEFINITELY not least...Ebony Fifi Manolo's new collar. Aint she purdy? (Sidenote: She wanted me to let you know its my fault, not hers, that the side view is hard to see because I was wearing black pants.)

On a lighter note...Things I love right NOW

Two heavy posts in a row means it is time for something fun. Like "Things I love right NOW."
Did you know unicorns really do exist? Ok not REALLY really, but the animal researchers think people used to believe was the unicorn has recently been photographed for the first time ever in the wild. Check it out.

Not like I have any reason to be checking photographers (no really, I have no reason, I'm not being coy), this one knocks my socks off. One question though: they do pet photography but I see no photos of cats. Does that qualify as discrimination?

Even if it doesn't, this quote from overheardinminneapolis definitely does. Come on now people, lets try to be a little less ignorant?

Speaking of ridiculous quotes, how about on The Hills when Stephanie and Lauren had a deep discussion about Stephanie's pet hampster. I mean guinea pig. I mean...watch this:

Sticking with the video theme, this seriously cracks me up.

Two of the funniest things, in my opinion, are the fact that the photog (presumably the kids mom) just laughs while the strange woman at the door helps the kid up. Also, why don't they mention the lion cub floundering around the doorstep? Missed opportunities, AFV.

Back to things I don't really need to be checking out...I heart these pillows. A LOT. Someone (cough Sister cough) take note so that when I actually do need to be checking out things like photographers and ring pillows I can get the one of these, ok?

Happy weekend, folks.

Things I love right NOW

As Kathleen often says, "It's the little things, really." Here are some little things that have gotten me through a tough couple days at the office.
Bendy Guy, rocking out on my desk in the middle of the plant wreath that was put on my head in honor of the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.

Maybe Bendy Guy is singing along to my new favorite song, Elise's "Rock Your Soul" which Courtney Galiano did a beautiful solo to on "So You Think You Can Dance."

(check it out, seriously, its only 38 seconds long and who wants to work on a Friday anyway?).

The "Sweet dreams are made of these" shirt...I don't even have the words to describe how much I love cupcakes so this t-shirt from shirt.woot is pure delight to me. Check out their product description......it might even be cuter than the shirt itself.

An Ellen Degeneres clip discussing the benefits of the "Hawaiian Chair," that claims helps you to work out at work. Really it just flings you around and around until you're so dizzy there is no way you could do any work. I wonder what Boss would do if I got one for my desk...

"Defendant trades murder plea for KFC, pizza" How could anyone not enjoy an article like that? Ok maybe not everyone would, it might be my criminal justice minor kicking in. HA!

Raisin Bran with soy milk. Not sure why I'm admitting to that, it kind of makes me close to 80 years old but I just can't help it. I love the stuff.

(Image from Entertainment Weekly Online) My new copy of "Mad Men," season 1. Season 2 has already started on AMC and now that I've watched the entire first season (it only took me 3 days, just to give you an indication of how good it is), I'm going to go use my parents for their Tivo and catch up over the weekend. By the way, this show is not just for the ladies. I got a marketing guy hooked on it just the other day. He claims his office is the 2008 version of the show. Scary?

(Image from the MNHS website)
Spending summer hours half days doing productive things, like checking out the Ellis Island photo exhibit at the MN Historical Society.

This amazingly creative and kick ass animation. How are people that clever? Seriously? Who thinks of making an animated cartoon in which the animation turns against the animator and uses all the tools that were used to create it to fight? IMPRESSIVE. (MJI and El Vato, I think you two will really enjoy this one!)

When people send me links and give me cool things to add to my "Things I love right NOW" Sidenote: collection...like Pam who gave me Bendy Guy and the Ellen clip and Andrew Jacob who introduced me to Woot and the murder plea article.

And finally...the weekend.
