Fargo: Ain't just a movie

This weekend I took a kickass trip to Fargo to visit the lovely Laura, her charming  husband, and their sweet puppies Stella & Sharon. {Yes, they have a bulldog named Sharon. She hasn't learned how to sit like a lady yet. See?}

By the way, Fargo is not in Minnesota. It's in North Dakota.

I showed up at Laura's house for the first time ever smelling like a barn {a story for another time} and felt like I was at Club Med. My room was airy and white with piles of pillows and pretty towels folded at the end of the bed. {Sigh.} After I washed the Eau de Bovine off of me we hit downtown Fargo for a little shopping for gems like these headbands.

Then we saw a sign. Literally. Who were we to ignore what it was telling us to do?

Plus, look what we found on the menu.

A drink named after me! WITH MY NAME SPELLED RIGHT!

It was a good night.
I heart Fargo. And Laura {et al.}

Wait...your name is Dirty Fur Trader?

Nope. It's El Frissell. I just go by Caley because it's easier than having to explain why my parents gave me suck a wacky name.

There are three obvious questions here, two should be easy: How do you make a Cucular Caley? And is it any good?

Third: Cucular? A quick search indicates that it seems to be a Portuguese word, but bonus points to anyone who can come up with a definition.

One of these days, El, we will have to meet for coffee. You know...since we only live a mile apart!

Cucular: combination of cucumber and spectacular...also spelled "cukeular." Means a wonderful concoction that smells predominantly of cool cucumber essence but burns nice like a good gin.

I adore that everyone here is so focused on the booze part of this post (because that means they're totally my peeps) but I'd like to thank you for the public service announcement reminding people that Fargo is NOT in Minnesota! I hate when people find out I'm from Minnesota and the first thing they say is "oh! like Fargo! have you ever been there?!"

And the bonus points go to...Alpha Monkey! Nice work.

I didn't actually order one, Confusador. Wasn't in the mood for cucumber vodka. Who knew such a thing exists?

YES, sister, I hate that too. That was my first ever trip there...or to ND in general.
