Now, I want to move in.
Because Wild Rumpus is a bookstore in Minneapolis. WITH ANIMALS WANDERING AROUND. Cats and chinchillas and chickens, oh my! (And a lizard and tarantula and ferrets but those aren't so much my favorites.
[Disclaimer: I apologize for the fact that not only are these awful cell phone quality pics they're also blurry...probably because I was so excited I couldn't even hold my hand still to snap the pictures.]
This is what we saw when we walked in. I almost asked right then and there if they had rental applications.
Sharks freaked me out as a kid but this hand puppet kinda scares me even as a grown up...
...and how cool is this ceiling? Have I mentioned I want to move in?
Chinchillas are soft. And cute. Moral of the story: don't buy real fur.
The chicken was a little skittish so I couldn't get close enough for a good picture but I would be a little jumpy too if I were a chicken living with four cats weaving in and out of the bookshelves.
Boo made friends with the biggest kitten around. He didn't want her to leave. Looks like we'll both be moving in!

That's pretty much amazing! What a great find!
Mallory's preschool took them on a field trip to Wild Rumpus last summer. She came back with tons of stories and even asked if she could have a campout at that "wild place". If you are up to it, my 4 year old would be up for camping out there any time :)
If you're ever in MN, Alicia, you MUST go there!
OMG, seriously, the whole time I was there I was wishing I had a little one to explore with me. It's just not as fun reading kid's books in an overstuffed chair without a kid to listen to them! I'd love to take Mallory.
I am SO excited you discovered one of our favorite places! We discover the best new books and authors there!
Do you and the kids want to move in with me? When I buy the place you're more than welcome to come camp out with Kristie and Mallory. It'll be a party for the record books :)
I could go under the floor with the rats! LOVE that spot in the hut where you peek through the plexiglass floor. We would need to bring our frog and three dogs along...and you thought the chicken was worried about the cats!
I love it! It reminds me of the wild rumpus in Where the Wild Things Are... If I ever make it to Minnesota, I will definitely stop in!
I think this may be one of the most awesome things I have ever seen!
