A Special Day

I've never gotten an anniversary card. Not for anything. Until today. I opened my mail and there it was, lovely heavy cream paper with a pale blue pattern and classic print across the front that said,
Happy Anniversary from Quest

Apparently it is my one year anniversary of having Quest service and they felt it appropriate to send me a card. One cool thing is that if it is my one year anniversary of having phone service, it is also the one year anniversary of buying The Stanford House!

Which means it is also the one year anniversary of the roof of The Stanford House roof blowing off in a storm.

A year and one month ago I got my new car, too!

One year and one month ago on that very same day my new car got hailed on.

I think maybe the reason I've never gotten an anniversary card is because they don't make the kinds I would need to commemorate my special days.

Perhaps the reason that you've never gotten an anniversary card until today is because you don't remember the day it was that we decided that we were getting married. I can't remember the exact day, but I think it had something to do with Dr. Maloney's class and you bringing a bag of mint milano cookies.

Did you now that there was one year when the only birthday card I got was from Baskin Robbins? It included a free Ice Cream cone. MJI knows very well about the ensuing quest.

I do love me some mint milano cookies. Always have. But you're right, I don't remember the exact date. Then again, it looks like you don't either so...?
As sad as that story is, I can't lie--it made me laugh a little. Only because I can just imagine the "ensuing quest."
You can tell me about it when you come to pick up your pad thai.

Congrats? I'd wish for many more, but we could do without the hail.

What did our record come to on that quest anyway? Thinking about that and the fact that it was Quest who prompted this makes me realize that I haven't been questing in a while. I should come up with one...

Quest results for finding baskin robbins:

St. Louis - 1/2 for 4 (It was there, but they wouldn't open the freezers because there was a blackout).

Minnesota - 0 for 3. One of them could never have been one. One was closed, and one was engulfed in the evilness of that awful suburban mall.

Missouri - 1/4 for 1 (you got there, but not me, and they weren't a "real" one.)

Kansas - 0 for 1 (We missed the exit!)

Texas - More success than attempts. I can't go out without finding a baskin robbins.

Not including Texas: 3/4 of a success out of 9 attempts.

When either of you come to visit me, I'll buy you Baskin Robbins.

Congrats on your Stanford one year! When is your and Ebbie's anniversary? That's one worth celebrating, as well, I think!

Ebbie has been with me for 1 year, 6 months and 15 days! Hard to believe. Actually, what is hard is imagining how I ever managed for 22 years without her...!

Plus Rochester of course, but I wasn't there for that one...
